Thanksgiving

I hope you had a happy Thanksgiving people!

Here is the first Thanksgiving painting by Jean-Louis Gerome Ferris.

What a surprise !

Yesterday evening, the usual thing...some people came and checked out my furniture that I am selling before my departure. I was kinda tired, cooked juicy meat with eggs and watched Nip Tuck as I usually do on every Tuesdays.

At the first scene...I was damn surprised! "what? Am I hallucinating or..??? What the hell...is it Brigitte Bardot here???" Yeah she is!!! I don't know what you guys (american people) thought about this woman...anyone? Did she act well? Is she cute for her age?

Well, I know that USA used to love her. That's right, she was a stunning woman and a great actress...in the past century! But now, acting in Nip Tuck? Well, why not...

Casino Royale

I was not a James Bond fan at all since Pierce Brosnan acted in the last James Bond movies. I must say it was pretty bad. But Casino Royale is GREAT! I loved it. The actor Daniel Craig was perfectly picked up for this role and makes Pierce Brosnan perfomance as good as a 007 clown. I did not expected a such good movie. The action scenes are pretty amazing as well.

9/10 - go watch it!

La bastille district

Lucky me? I will live in the 11th district of Paris: La Bastille (where originally took place the French Revolution in 1789). There is a plazza with the same name. This area is really awesome! A lot of bars, restaurants, lounges, cafes, theaters, shops make this district one of the most active and charming districts of Paris where young people like to have a drink or two after work.

Presidential Election 2007

French people will have to elect their President on April 2007. It looks like it will be very interesting. American people I met are surprised that there are in France many political parties...yeah it's due to our long and rich History: some say it's good to have a such variety of party leaders and others say it causes some problems for the country to move forward (I agree with that). In United States, it is easy for you guys :) the global ideology is shared by both majority parties: the Democrats (who recently won the House and the Senate;)) and the Republicans. But in France, it's different. It's two, three or even four different ways of how France should run politically speaking. Confusing, huh?

Well, it appears that the two main parties ahead in the second tour of the Presidential election will be the Left (Socialist party almost represented by Segolene Royal - here below) and the Right (Liberal one represented by Nicolas Sarkozy - below) according to recent polls.

It would be certainly a good thing to have a woman as a President in France (it would be a first one as well) but her ideas suck. Besides, she doesn't look confident and appears fragile as soon as she has to debate with another candidate. Dommage!

Here is my man :)! This guy is quite hated by most of the French people but he's the only one able to improve the global economic situation in France. Moving forward: that's what we need and to do so, we need a person who has no fear to make French people angry (because they do like their Privileges). He has accomplished good things since he is a part of the french Governement in term of road security.

Well, wait and see :)

Saian Supa Crew

Ok people, here is my favorite French music band - Saian Supa Crew << Vicelow, Sir Samuel, Feniksi, Sly, Leeroy >>. They were first famous with "Angela". Their music is unique, their lyrics are powerful. Great artists! Besides, each member of the crew has a very diversified musical creation such as OFX, Sir Samuel...

Check out one of their music video "A demi Nue" wich means half naked. This song remind us our first time ;). If you understand a little bit the French language you will notice it.

Boulot Métro Dodo

 

4 weeks before my departure, I am thinking about Paris, its atmosphere and try again to experience it again in my mind. That's a great and special feeling and what makes this feeling higher to me is the "Metropolitan", the Parisian subway. Actually, people make it special and I like observing them. I like noticing their way of dressing, their way of being...truly funny sometimes. I know I will meet again some weird people, homeless singing or playing music to earn some coins so they will get their double cheese burger menu at Mc Donald's or simply get a beer, I'll meet also some crazy people and very normal ones. But what I mostly like in this crowd is the melting pot, people with different culture and history gathering in this same tube, sitting next to each others.

Hi all !

Welcome to my new ParisBigSmile weblog  ;).

I will be leaving Los Angeles this December to go back to France and live in Paris, The City of Lights. This blog is for everyone who is interested in the French culture and especially in Paris and want to share their own experience. I will talk about everything...I can assume there will be a lot of pictures posted (I like photography) and many advises to have fun in Paris...

For now, I am preparing my departure but will post a lot of notes as soon as my feet touch the French bitume...here is my old weblog on which I still keep posting RichyLA (in French).
